6 Weird Things About Me

Patty Lemmon tagged me to write 6 weird things about myself...um...well...mmmm...mmmm...weird is in the eye of the beholder so I'll do my best...

1. I can't stand to sleep without brushing my teeth and washing my face before I go to bed. (naps are the exception - but who gets a nap? certainly not me) If I fall asleep without doing the aforementioned activities, I will wake up in the middle of the night and do them.

2. I could eat cold cereal for every meal. I love healthy cereals - Kashi Cinnamon Harvest is my favorite. I also love sugary cereals - LIFE and Fruity Pebbles are my favorite in that category. Cereal is delicious but I think it is the ease of the stuff that draws me to it so often - no cooking, minimal clean up, 8 vitamins and minerals! Who could ask for anything more?

3. I LOVE Disneyland. (Probably not as much as Ericka) I think about it several times each DAY. While in Disneyland I get choked up at the silliest things, i.e. when I see the statue of Walt and Mickey Mouse, when they open the park and everyone runs in (the energy and excitement just thrill me) and during almost the entire parade I have to hold back the tears so I don't look like an idiot. When I figure out why that is I'll let you all know - it has something to do with Walt himself and being so touched by the fulfillment of his dream.

4. (I'm stealing this idea from Sabre, but It is my weird thing too so...) I love anything Asian, always have, even before my Lao speaking mission. I have always found the Asian cultures fascinating. I love the different sounds of their music, the food they eat and their beautiful art, architecture and landscaping. I also love Asian films with subtitles - try "Not One Less". I wasn't a bit surprised when I was called to serve southeast Asian refugees as a full-time missionary. There is a church movie about Asian saints - I cry the whole way through it. There will be a temple in Laos someday and I WILL be at the dedication.

5. People who can't step outside of their own little worlds and try to imagine what others may be feeling drive me crazy. (I'm just as guilty as the next guy)

6. My "happy place" is on top of Ben Lomand peak in Ogden, UT. I've made it to the top of that mountain, I can make it through anything.

  1. Every time Shamu comes out of the water I cry. It's so beautiful, and it just proves there is a God. Who or what else could create something so grand?

  5. Why I don't think you are weird at all!! I can sleep with my face unwashed but not my feet. If my feet are dirty, I have to get up and wash them. What is weird is that I used to go barefoot everywhere all the time and it never bothered me. Now in my old age it bothers me a lot. However, now I don't care if the bed is made ever, and in my youth I couldn't leave the house unless it was made. Go figure!

  7. Patty, If my bed is made and the dishes are done I feel so much peace inside but as I'm getting older, busier and more tired I'm not caring as much.
