On our way home from Disneyland we stopped at the San Diego temple. I always try to take advantage of any time that my kids can get out and see a real temple instead of just looking at pictures. We only spent about an hour walking around and soaking in the spirit but it was very memorable for Lizzy. Ben and Lizzy both took turns interacting with the huge nativity scene they have on their lawn. They each wanted to kiss the baby Jesus and hug Mary and Joseph. Disneyland is a fantastic place but the temple is where dreams really do come true - where families are made eternal and where a greater knowledge of our Savior and His atoning sacrifice can be found.
So for Christmas I'm going to give the girls a trip to the temple rather than Disneyland, and I'll tell them it was your idea! I know Bobby will love the idea.
ReplyDeleteIt actually helps if they have been to Disneyland BEFORE going to the temple because the temple looks like a castle and you can play off that really well!! :)
