The World is a Better Place

On March 14, more than 30 years ago, (I can't be too specific or else I might be on the couch:) ) a sweet little red headed girl came into the world. Even though I am biased, I must say that the world is a better place because she is here.

Most people who meet Lisa are drawn instantly to her radiant smile. It rarely goes away. That was the first thing that I notice when I ran into her at the Weber State Institute. That and her spectacular red hair. And when you meet Lisa, you also begin to feel a warmth from within - a special feeling of love for you and for the beauty of the world around us.

I have to be careful about what I write, because I don't want Lisa to be embarrassed - or worse - have her delete this. Because of some very difficult experiences growing up, Lisa has developed a very strong relationship with our Heavenly Father. Watching her as she works through the trials and experiences of life is amazing to me. She has a tenacity and faith that is incredible to me. I can honestly say that I married WAY above me.

13 years ago, on her birthday, I had the honor of marrying Lisa for time and all eternity. It was a beautiful day - the only sunny day during the week of clouds and rain. Lisa is the most amazing wife. She is like the Invincible Woman. Life does not stop her from doing the right thing for the right reason. I am amazed by her.

And so, I wanted to publicly express my love for her. Words are not really sufficient to explain how deeply I care about you, Lisa. I love you so much. You are the sunshine on a dark day- radiant and glowing, the rain on a flowering mountain meadow - giving it life, a mountain peak - firm and steadfast, the beating of a human heart - continually loving without ceasing, the hymn - always lifted up in praise and prayer to our Heavenly Father. You are a beautiful, radiant, spectacular, compassionate, courageous woman. I am humbled to be beside you and eternally grateful.

May this coming year be more full of blessings and less full of trial. May it be brimming with joy and happiness and devoid of sorrow and pain. May it be filled with meaningful friendships. May you feel the support and love from those around you. May God bless you with the desires of your heart.
