Emptying My Brain

Random thoughts that have been bouncing around in my brain lately:

Great minds talk about ideas

Average minds talk about events

Small minds talk about people (ouch)

We recently saw the new "Karate Kid". Great movie! You know, quite often, when a director wants to show someone accomplishing something that occurs over a long period of time, they choose to create a montage of the actor working hard day after day in quick little snippets with inspiring music in the background. It occurred to me during the "Karate Kid" montage that if I had background music and I could accomplish great things in small snippets resulting in a total of maybe 5 minutes of work over all, I would be unstoppable!! :)

Hmmm...what would my background music be like? And what is that scripture that teaches by small and simple actions are great things brought about? Hmmmm...I feel a longer post brewing...

Also from "Karate Kid"...

Dre is amazed by a woman who is meditating but to him, it looks like she is doing nothing. Mr. Han says,"Being still and doing nothing are two very different things."

I immediately teared up at this deep truth (crazy, I know) I thought of the scripture in Psalms 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God..." God doesn't mean for us to do nothing, He means for us to trust Him and remember what He, the Creator of the universe and worlds without number, is capable of doing and then we are to stand still in that trust and that is so the opposite of doing nothing.

Sometimes when people do things that aren't wise, whether it be breaking a commandment, eating too much too often, displaying great anger, spending too much money too often or treating others badly etc., what they are really doing is crying for help. This is not always the case but it is very important for us to always remember this. I've written it before, but I'll write it again, we all want someone to be gentle and kind and give us the benefit of the doubt when we mess up, we should offer the same to others. It is all about LOVE. I'm beginning to be convinced that love is an actual, tangible medicine or vaccine that can cure so many heartaches and even prevent some from developing.
Hmmmm...uh oh, yet another post brewing. This one about the power of love (yes you can say those last three words the way Huey Lewis and the News sang them because that is how they came out of my mouth as I typed this. Great, great grandkids reading this...just know that was a great song!)

When someone shares something with you that is very difficult for them, please try to stick with them and keep in touch with them or they may feel that you are judging them because of what they have shared or that they have scared you away. Most likely this is not what you are feeling, you are just busy and have your own things to think about but that person opened themselves up to you and they feel very vulnerable now...don't ignore them.
