Back in February, we decided to grant Lizzy's many petitions and start her in some violin lessons. She practiced with a friend a few times and then we signed her up for the Yuma Orchestra Association's beginning violin class.
http://www.yumaorchestra.com/twinklers.htmlEach student must attend a weekly group class as well as a weekly private lesson.

Lizzy thoroughly enjoys herself. She loves to practice and she loves to attend her lessons. I never have to coerce her whatsoever. After one month's worth of group and private lessons, she has one song memorized and will soon master her second and third songs. She has participated in one performance so far.
Learning to play the violin is a daunting task. We must practice every single day. I must attend all classes and lessons - which means I'm learning too! :) I'm often worried that Lizzy will become discouraged. But then after a lesson or a practice we'll be walking to the car and Lizzy will say something like, "Mom, I was really good today!" and I know her confidence level will keep her going for a while. Which is good because I told her she will never be allowed to quit!
Way to go Lizzy!! It is so neat to watch a young child with talent and passion grow and progress in what they love! :) Keep it up little virtuoso! :)
