Orchestra Camp

Last week (June 14th - 18th 2010), Lizzy attended her first Orchestra Camp put on by Strings Del Rio at Cibola high school here in Yuma. The camp was held Monday-Friday from 9am-3:30pm. This was a good run through for all day Kindergarten, which Lizzy will be starting in August.

Here is my little girl heading off into the big school - so excited!Being gone all day long was hard for Lizzy even though the organizers of the camp planned fun days filled with games, art projects, snacks, lunch, quiet time and yes, some actual practicing on their instruments. After the first day, Lizzy decided she wanted to take a picture of Jesus with her so she could pull it out when she felt homesick. She did that on her own and according to her, she actually pulled it out a few times.
Despite this, she had a wonderful time making new friends and learning how to play the violin even better than before. She really does love it, which continues to amaze me. She has no desire to quit. Yay!!!

I didn't take many pictures because I planned on taking some good pics at their group preformance on Saturday. However, she woke up Saturday morning with a stomach ache and then proceeded to throw up all morning. Apparently other children had been sick throughout the week so it was just her lucky day to have to miss the preformance.

Oh well, I'll know better next year.
