The Cuteness of Ben

When Lizzy was younger I filled the sidebar of this blog with cute things that she would say. She still says cute things but now they are more profound and I'm afraid people won't believe me that my 6-year-old has such deep thoughts so I just keep them somewhere private.

But what about Ben? I have sat down several times to type up something cute that came from his mouth but I just sit and can't figure out how to type it up. "Why?" you ask. Ive decided that the cute things Ben says are part of the whole package that is Ben. His voice is cute. His facial expressions while he is telling me cute things is cute. His body language and timing are cute. It is hard to convey all of that in a one dimensional blog post.

But I'm going to try...

Jesus is a very real person to Ben (as with most children - childlike faith remember?) When we are doing something which allows him to feel the Spirit he often asks, "Where is Jesus? I can't see Him." I've come to recognize this is when He feels the Savior's love in his heart but he can't see Him.

Ben has also heard me say often that Jesus will come back to the earth someday.

This past Sunday, as Sacrament meeting was starting, Ben was standing on the bench looking around at all of the people. I finally asked him what he was doing...

Ben: "I'm looking for Jesus. Did He come back yet?"

 Me: "No son, not yet."

He got a totally bummed look on his face and sat down.

My heart just swelled with love for my Ben at that moment. I had a feeling the Savior's heart swelled with love for Ben in that moment too.

See, I just reread what I typed and it doesn't even convey half of how cute Ben was when he said what he said. Ben lives with his whole heart. He is sincere about everything. What you see is what you get when it comes to Benjamin Thomas Love and what you see, when you look past the boy with extra measures of energy, is one awesome kid!

  1. How sweet! Such eagerness to see Him again! (Even if you don't write them down here, I hope you write down what they somewhere. Your kids will love you for it someday!)
