This Little Piggy Was Found
Lizzy is two-years-old in this picture. She loved this little pig. Piggy was his name. He went everywhere with us - he even made it to Disneyland a couple of times. Piggy was an important part of our family.
One day, however, Piggy could not be found. We searched high and low. Turned over pillows and mattresses. Searched cupboards and drawers. Lizzy prayed and prayed with all of her little girl faith that Heavenly Father would help her find her Piggy. Troy and I prayed too - our hearts were broken because our baby's heart was broken. Those were some sad days in our house.
Time went by - a year or so. Every now and then Lizzy would renew the search for her Piggy but he was never found. Last year at this time, Lizzy began the search one more time - with even greater effort than ever before. By this time she understood faith more, she understood the power of God more and she was determined that Heavenly Father was going to help her find her Piggy.
I also intensified my search, but this time it was on the internet. I searched every website - ebay and craigslist included. I could not find this particular stuffed pig. It was nowhere to be found. As Lizzy's prayers intensified, so did my own. It is one thing to pray for my own desires, but to pray that our Father will answer my child's prayer was a whole new experience.
Piggy was not found.
A few days ago I was putting something away on a very high shelf and what did my hand feel? You guessed it, Piggy! I grabbed him and yelled for Lizzy to come quickly.
There were tears and prayers and a little broken heart was mended and a mommy's heart was relieved and so very grateful.
There are lessons here and I have no doubt I will return to this post in a few days to type up the deep philosophical lessons to be learned from this little experience. The number one lesson is unmistakable - our Father answers our prayers ON HIS TIME TABLE and IN HIS OWN WAY.
For now we are just grateful that what was lost is found - this little Piggy came home. :)
